Ingredients
- 1 packed cup (30 g) baby spinach
- 1 cup (140 g) frozen mixed berries
- 3/4 cup (170 g) plain nonfat Greek yogurt
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) unsweetened almond milk
- 1 scoop (30 g) vanilla whey protein powder
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 cup (120 g) ice cubes
Before you start
- A high-speed blender makes the spinach smoothest. If using a compact blender, add the milk first and blend the spinach with it before adding frozen ingredients.
- Whey powder gives the stated protein estimate. Use a plant-based vanilla protein powder only if its flavor and thickness suit you; a different powder or milk changes the nutrition and thickness.
Instructions
- Add the almond milk, lemon juice, spinach, Greek yogurt, protein powder, frozen berries, and ice to a blender in that order.
- Blend on low for 15 seconds, then on high for 30 to 45 seconds, stopping once if needed to scrape down the sides. The smoothie should be uniformly green-purple with no visible spinach pieces.
- If it is too thick to blend, add 1 tablespoon almond milk at a time and blend briefly. Serve immediately in one 16-ounce glass.
